Houston, TX (December 6, 2021)

As a chapter in one’s life is realized, a new, and exceptional one begins.

After 24 years of hard work, loyalty, and dedication to Westco Grounds Maintenance, Rebecca Ratcliff, or Becky as we all know her, is soon to transition to the next chapter in her life called retirement. Her work and accomplishments will remain within the history and fabric of Westco.

Becky was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, and moved to Texas as a teenager.

She joined Westco in June of 1997 as a payroll and accounts payable administrator and was later promoted to office manager where she oversaw all the administrative staff and ensured the smooth and efficient day to day operations. Most recently, she served as Director of Administration. She has been a mentor, and a friend to many over the last several decades.

Her extensive green industry experience was learned at Westco and credits her success to having co-workers as great teachers and mentors guiding her along the way.

One thing about Becky is that she is a highly active person and loves sports. She recalls the day when she participated and rode in the MS150 to raise awareness and funds for the Cure of Multiple Sclerosis. She attributes that day and working at Westco as some of the most memorable events with the company.

“I used to ride in the MS150. The MS Society reached out to all the local riders about a man who was suffering with MS and was wheelchair-bound. His house was falling apart, and the floors were rotting due to very bad drainage around the house. They were looking for volunteers to help. I asked a couple of the guys here to see if they would help me that Saturday. When I pulled into the yard at Westco there were 25 guys willing to give up their day off to help.   We showed up at the gentleman’s house and worked over 10 hours cutting tree branches, fixing his drainage issues, helped rebuild his wheelchair ramp, and doing a massive cleanup. When we returned to the shop, I asked the superintendent for the names of the guys who worked so I could pay them. The superintendent said none of the guys wanted to get paid, and that they really enjoyed helping this man. It brought tears to my eyes because most of the guys live paycheck to paycheck but they wanted to help somebody they never met.  I was so proud of our guys and proud to be part of the Westco team”.

When asked what she has enjoyed most about her career, Becky stated, “I have learned things during my career that will stay with me for a long time, for example, I know how to fix my irrigation system, control weeds, and many more landscape tips”.

As to working at Westco, she will remember the people as her most relished part of the last 24 years. “I’ve had the honor of working with some amazing and hard-working people. Co-Workers that you can count on in times of trouble and happy times. I will truly miss their smiles and hugs. Some of my co-workers will be lifelong friends”

Becky has many plans for her retirement, including lots of travel, spending time with her grandson Alex, and enjoying more time at her lake house.

We thank Becky for her many, loyal years of service and professionalism, with love and compassion.
